After the last kit I did and how many paper book covers I had to make, having these little pre-scored book boxes to just fold and tab together was actually fun.

Step 2: Establishing the Base😊18m
The nature of this build is such that the base feels like it should be a wall. Disorienting in a fun way.
3
Step 3: Shelves on Shelves😊51m
I'm not sure the tape strips are really that much better than the glue... except that my fingertips appreciate them.

Step 4: Feels Like Lookingglass😊28m
I've never worked with an LED strip before. The way they crafted the pieces to hold it in place was kinda genius and pretty easy to build. Getting the rabbit in the right place on the under side was a bit tricky at first.

Step 5: Filling Out The Back Shelves😊41m
Once again I found myself relieved at being able to put books on shelves that didn't require pasting tiny paper covers on wood blocks for 4 hours first. 😂 The little nicknacks on the shelves are really fun in this build and the dark backing really adds refinement to the look of the shelves.

Step 6😊56m
I think these little curtains need glue. Thinking about ditching them altogether, though and just keeping the top skirt portion. What do you think?
7
Step 6 Complete😊
Can't wait to get lights wired up to show the falling Rabbit.

Step 7: The Curse of the Chess Board😐1h 17m
This step elicited many swear words. The chess board doesn't have the hole for the piece that attaches it to the shelves unit and all the holes for the chess pieces themselves are too big. I had to glue the pieces to the board by running B7000 glue around the part that inserts into the hole in the board, and technically speaking, that worked because I let it dry. Then I had to glue the under side of the chess board to the top of the piece that connects to the shelves, but B7000 didn't work well for this step, so I pulled out the super glue gel. This is where the swear words joined the party. The brand new bottle was apparently still pressurized from shipping and oozed everywhere, including on my fingers and leggings. So. Much. Swearing. I finally got it glued, but that wasn't the end of the trouble.
The next issue was my own user error. I didn't read the instructions well enough to see that the piece that connects the chess board to the shelves requires a little drawer front piece between them. So I had to pull it back off, which pulled half the shelf unit apart as well and the super glue wasn't dry yet fully, so the chess board also came off..... sigh. Ultimately got it all put back together and glued in place, but wow. Shoulda had a whiskey first.
**Correction: I'm an idiot. I missed the piece but didn't find out until I literally FINISHED the build and looked for extra pieces. 🤣🤦🏻♀️**

Step 7 Complete, Heart Rate Dropping to Normal🙂
Finally got this step done. The little chair was kind of fun, but this was also the point in the build where I mostly abandoned the little tape strips. Yes, it's technically a no-glue kit, but if you have glue and you're comfortable with it, then just use it on this build.

Step 7: Reprise 😒😐5m
You know those days... 🤦🏻♀️ I take back everything I said about Step 7. You wouldn't know I do QA for a living if you watch my book nook builds. I seem to miss a piece or a small step with every build. But usually I figure it out much quicker than this. "It was RIGHT THERE!" 😒
11
Step 8: Books on a Peg?😊32m
The little book stack on the middle shelf sits above the shelf instead of flush against it because the bottom piece that goes into the shelf doesn't push in that far. This is the case with a few of the little "book stacks" throughout the kit. Not really an issue, just an observation. This step was fun, but not as fun as the next step.

Step 9: Down She Falls😊23m
Finally getting to the main event: the moment where Alice falls. Felt a bit odd mixing the wood pieces with the plastic pieces but the fully 3D effect is pretty cool.

Step 10: Out of Wonderland😊1h 7m
I think Rolife has funny ideas about what constitutes a "step" in their instructions. This final step included about a third of the build somehow.
Still fun, and the little details at the end were fun to add. Other than taking the film off the glue dots, I really enjoyed the tail end of this process. I love how many mushrooms there are. 😆

Fall Into Wonder COMPLETE!😊
Really had fun with this build. The chess board was a good reminder to REALLY look at the instruction diagrams closely. 😂
So much fun.
