Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Nook Junkies and book nook kits.
About Book Nooks
A book nook kit is a boxed set of pre-cut pieces — usually laser-cut wood, paper, and sometimes acrylic or fabric — that you assemble into a small illuminated scene designed to sit on a bookshelf between two books. Most kits include LED lighting that brings the finished scene to life with a warm glow. They combine model building, crafting, and a bit of magic in a format that fits on any shelf.
About Nook Junkies
Nook Junkies is a catalog, discovery, and community platform for book nook kit builders. It includes a searchable, filterable database of 274+ kits from major brands — each tagged with builder style (Snap, Craft, or Mixed), difficulty, piece count, build time, and affiliate links. The site also has a community feed, build journals where builders document their projects with photos, a reviews system, a personal digital bookshelf where builders can display their past and WIP builds, and a curated tools guide. It's free to use.
Building Tips
B7000 is the community's most-recommended adhesive for wood-to-wood assembly. It dries clear, is flexible when dry, and gives you 5–10 minutes of repositioning time before it sets — which is invaluable when learning. For paper elements (covers, posters, wall textures), a Pritt glue stick applies evenly and prevents warping. Avoid super glue for most assembly work — it grabs instantly and doesn't allow correction. See our Tools page for specific product links.
Kit Selection
Snap kits have precision-cut pieces designed to slot, tab, or click together — the build is more like a 3D puzzle, with a logical step-by-step sequence and minimal painting or gluing. Craft kits involve more hands-on work: cutting, painting, gluing, and creative decisions as you go. Mixed kits blend both styles. Nook Junkies tags every kit in the catalog as Snap, Craft, or Mixed so you can filter by your preferred style before you buy.
