1. Who we are

Nook Junkies (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online community for book nook kit enthusiasts. We operate the website at nookjunkies.com. For any privacy-related questions, you can reach us at nookjunkies@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect

When you create an account, we collect:

• Your name (first and last), email address, and chosen username
• Optionally: your country, a short bio, and a profile picture

When you use the site, we collect content you create:

• Reviews, ratings, and photos you submit for products
• Kit shelf entries (what you’ve built, are building, or want to build)
• Toolkit items (tools and supplies you use)
• Saved product comparisons
• Beta feedback submissions

We also collect limited technical data automatically:

• Your IP address (processed by our hosting provider, Vercel)
• Your browser and device type (via standard HTTP headers)
• Pages you visit on our site (server access logs retained by Vercel)

3. How we use your data

• To provide the service: Your account information lets you log in, post reviews, manage your shelves, and interact with the community.
• To send transactional emails: We use your email address to send email verification and account-related notifications only. We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
• To moderate the platform: Admins may view your account details and content to enforce our community guidelines.
• To improve the product: Aggregated, non-identifiable usage patterns help us understand how the site is used. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use one essential session cookie called supabase-session. This cookie stores your login session so you stay logged in between page loads. It is:

• HttpOnly (not accessible to JavaScript)
• Secure (only sent over HTTPS)
• Valid for 7 days, then automatically expires

We also use local storage in your browser to remember your cookie notice preference so we don’t show it repeatedly.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics cookies. We have no advertising partners.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party processors to run the site. Each receives only the data necessary to perform their function.

6. How long we keep your data

• Account data: Kept for as long as your account exists. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Reviews: If you delete your account, your reviews are anonymised (your name, email, and user ID are removed) and retained as community content. The review text, rating, and photos remain but can no longer be linked back to you. If you want specific review content removed, contact us.
• Server logs: Retained by Vercel according to their standard log retention policy (typically 1–3 days for edge logs).

7. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or another region with data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you — use the “Download My Data” button in your profile settings.
• Rectify inaccurate data — update your profile in account settings at any time.
• Delete your account and personal data — use the “Delete Account” option in your profile settings.
• Object to processing — contact us and we will review your request.
• Portability — export your data as CSV files using the “Download My Data” button in your account settings.
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority if you believe we have violated your rights.

8. Children

Nook Junkies is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email or via a notice on the site. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
